Red-faced and apologetic! I can’t believe it’s been 15 months since I last connected with you here, I won’t even try to backfill the updates, so much has developed since then! I hope that you have been able to keep pace in your own lives, it does feel like a roller coaster energy ride these days. This great weather is a precious gift to us in Ireland, since April we have had intermittent consistent weeks of sunshine. The sun illuminates our stunning landscapes, and what a joy it is to discover new treasures. I have had the proud pleasure of bringing visitors to some of our sacred sites, and world class beaches-witnessing their awe is food for my soul.
I have found myself challenged to answer the tour groups questions, and realise either, a) how much I didn’t pay attention at school, or b) how little of our heritage was in the school curriculum. At any rate it is never too late to learn, and it is inspiring to learn from others who have a passion for our folklore and ancient past, and it dovetails perfectly with the healing arts/spirituality.
Taking a peak at the Global picture is somewhat daunting these days, and it takes mastery not to feel disillusioned. Global conflict is bad enough, however we do face some even greater challenges. The threat of Artificial Intelligence invading our lives is very serious, and seems to be rolling out at an accelerated speed, with few of us having a grasp of understanding of what the effects of this may hold for us as a human family. I recall being horrified years ago when I heard about the AI google translation programme that had self-actualised and the programmers couldn’t stop it!! Basically the AI decided that there should be one language that all languages translated into, and that would make the translation work better, so it went on to create a new language without any instruction from the programmers.
I don’t think any of us will ever be convinced that computers should hold any power over our daily lives, and yet we are already living this to a lesser extent. My computer now asks me to prove to it that I am not a computer- it would be funny if it wasn’t so serious!
So, is AI bad? Like most things, it is neither good or bad in and of itself-for me the more important question is this-should I give my power/choices to AI, or should I keep my sovereignty and use AI for the benefit of mankind. It is our intention in using it that creates the outcome. Outsourcing our ability to computers, means that we lose certain abilities- a typical example is memorising phone numbers, I can still recall our first landline number -50 years later, when it hasn’t been used for 40 years, yet recently I have found it very difficult to learn my families mobile phones numbers. Using phone numbers was a multi-sensory experience, you had to recall the number, press the buttons (or dial) each number, and the was a sound for each number, so it was easily embedded into my memory. Nowadays, there are no physical buttons to press, I just touch or speak a name and the phone does the rest, so my brain has decided it is no longer a skill I need to keep, and I lose this ability.
The AI issue got me thinking about what I could do to offset some of the negatives this AI will no doubt bring. The answer came loud and clear- CONNECTION. We need to ensure that we make concerted efforts to maintain our human connections, in person, in real time. There is an energy exchange that occurs when we are with someone or a group, that we have a mutual connection with. We recognise it as a feeling of belonging, the opposite of loneliness. This is the single defining distinction between us and computers/robots, we have the God given right to FEEL all of the energetic emotions, and this elevates us to a higher status than a machine. When we have simultaneous emotional experiences together this has a profound impact on the world around us- (the research on schuman resonance or hearth coherence proves this beyond any doubt). Yet we KNOW this as our experience, we feel the elevation of our emotions when we gather with someone we are connected with, or a group of people with common ground. This is powerful transformative energy, that is our gift to master.
With that in mind, I have created a programme to delve deeper into the importance of Connection, looking at the research, exploring what is connection, and then take-home strategies so we can consciously use this to balance the scales of AI impact in our lives.
